I don't know about you.. but i HATE the Solara. It's just plain ugly. it's no wonder i never see any on the roads. So.. why not bring the Aurion from Australia (Camry to us) over as a coupe model.
Would be great competition for the Accord Coupe and the Altima Coupe. Here's my photoshop

I don't hate the Solara (it's too bland to elicit that aggressive of a response from me), but I do feel sorry for anyone I see driving one.
That's a cool photoshop, but then again, anything in full TRD kit can be tolerable.

that would be pretty neat, can't you get the Aurion with a supercharger from the factory? and like 320bhp? that'd be fun.

This really pisses me off. The domestics are really bad about keeping the good cars out of the US, but Toyota is catching up.

By domestics you mean Ford. And although I can't say anything about the TRD Aurion, the regular version is basically a V6 Camry (actually that's exactly what it's sold as here) and is really nothing special at all.

I was also referring to GM owned Vauxhall and Opel as well.
The point is, they have the TRD version, which looks fantastic and sound pretty fun. The Aurion also looks better than the Camry...especially this version with sporty trim...

Also, this looks awesome:

Instead, we get the Hummer I mean FJ.

Yeah we get both the models you pictured. Personally, I prefer the Camry to the Aurion. The LC II, as it was/is known here is simply awesome, in a completely utilitarian way.
EDIT: And trust me, you're not really missing out on the Opels.

I got to drive my friends (a girl) an 06' model in V6 leather/Nav/etc guise... And I remember telling flaw what junk it was.
The ride was very floaty, somewhat reminiscent of the Crown Victoria my dad used to have. The brakes were mushy, and the steering wheel seemed not to be connected to the wheels at all. The V6 did however have a little growl, but not so much go.
Why anyone would pay anywhere in the 20K range for one of these is beyond me. Even in top-spec it left a lot to be desired for. If anyone has noticed, a lot of girls drive these, just like my friend.

I'm not a fan of the solara either, but old people seem to love it. Besides, do we really need anymore FWD quasi-sport coupes? I think not

My problem with the Solara isn't that it isn't a sporty drive. At least it isn't trying to pretend to be something it's not. My problem with it is that it's hideous.

In GM's defense, they did bring the Monaro over (and made the stupid mistake of trying to call it a GTO), the Saturn lineup these days has heavy Opel roots, and their own domestic lineup continues to improve each year (look at the new Malibu).

Doesn't the new Malibu have the same chassis underpinning it as the Aura/Vectra/9-3?

Yeah, but so did the old Malibu.

It wasn't bad dynamically either from what I remember, so I'm guessing it was no worse than a Vectra.

I've noticed a lot of girls driving A4s and Jettas. I test drove a base camry and it had a very cheap feel, and crappy steering, a base altima is a lot nicer.

I drove the Camry SE, and I'm not sure if it has any chassis mods, but I thought it was a much sharper drive than the Accord. Basically, it's the only mid-size I haven't completely hated other than the Mondeo and the Mazda6. The brakes are spongy as hell though...

I've got a friend with a new Camry SE with TRD 18" wheels and TRD shocks/springs and it's a good drive. But with all the TRD stuff it's hard not to be.

I don't know if you guys know anything about TRD products or not, but Toyota does not manufacture any of their TRD parts, rather, they outsource. Their TRD air filter is made by K&N. The springs are made by Eibach. The exhaust is made by Magnaflow. Quality is great, but doesn't perform better than any other aftermarket parts.
The gen 2 Solara isn't exciting, I test drove one before. Then again, it wasn't made to be something like a IS300 anyways. But no worries, this will be the last year for gen 2 Solara.
