The shot above shows a new Cayman (note the drawn down headlamps) undergoing testing, with a roll cage mounted aft of the two front seats. Could it be a Club Sport version?

I doubt they'd make a clubsport version of the cayman since it'll blow a 911 into the weeds

My guess is if there's a CS version, the hp increase over the S will be minimal, maybe 5-10hp. The focus will be on weight-saving, and it'll be pretty stripped-out.

^That's more or less my reasoning too. No more power than a Cayman S, but with an improved chassis and completely stripped out to the point that your average Carrera driver wouldn't look Twice.
Personally I would be impressed if Porsche made the car on the 2.7's platform, which some people think is the superior driver's car.

Why is this? What is the significant different between the two models?
This sounds phenomenal. If this were to be true, this is what I will dream about at night.

In the articles I have read, testers have stated on more than one occasion that the 2.7L car feels better balanced, and that the smaller engine is more in tune with the chassis.
I also feel that if Porsche was thinking about making a CS, they might be more willing to use the 2.7 to differentiate the Cayman CS from the 911 range as much as possible.

The only reason I like stripped-out specials from Porsche is because I believe it's something core to the brand. I personally don't care for them, and would probably never buy one. I like my cars to be sporty drives, but with all the creature comforts as well.
