Finally broke down and brought the Si into the tint shop. Quite a hefty debt for me, but I like how it turned out. thumbs_up.gif

Snazzy. How's the ride going for you?

No tint on the windows ???

That be gay.

whatsup with no tint on the side windows? i'm guessing it's a state law?
thank god I live in SC and can go 5% all around. I have the same 3MM carbon fiber tint on my windows, it's expensive but I know it comes with a lifetime warranty so at least you dont have to worry about it turning blue on you.
fiber optic
Must have been a new guy tinting that day as he neglected the dot matrix around the perimeter of your back window. So you can see a gap between the tint and the edge of the glass.

My car's got 40% on the front-side windows, 80% on the rear-sides, and 40 on the rear. The legal is 30% all-around, and nothing on the front. But since I have a foreign plate, I can do whatever the hell I want.

Or those who'd get thrown in jail for being caught for so much as making out with a girl in a "public area"...yes, this is why I have tints.

Indecent Exposure and Obscenity laws in the United States, at least.

and let's not forget the cool feeling you get when driving around being able to see and laugh at other people and knowing that they can't see you... for some people there's also the matter of being able to do drugs or/and alcohol and the cops or anyone else being able to see...many advantages...
so all those reasons =WIN

I like the tints on your Si, think they suit it well. Looks a bit JDM! The previous-generation (EK?) run-out Civic Type-R here in the UK had similar tints from B-pillar back, as do many Imprezas smile.gif

I was going to ask if this was the reason, but thought it might be insensitive. I read a Jeremy Clarkson Article about this kind of thing in Dubai, where more provocative girls drive around in SUVs with heavy tint.
Mr b00st
so you can only tint the rear quarters and rear window? That's a shame.

It's still great! It's always tons of fun to open up the VTEC and cream other cars (of course, unless there's a new V8 mustang, vette, viper, etc. next to you..). The ride is still smooth and fun, and the only problems I've had were the air conditioning and an ABS rear sensor recall (both of which the warranty covered). Overall, I'd say that this car is a great commute car as well, considering I've already racked up over 15K miles in a little over a year.

I actually did get all of the windows tinted, but unfortunately the legal limit here is something like 43% for the front windows. I got the back two slightly darker. What's the difference in cost for the carbon fiber tint, and what are the benefits?

I did realize that too, and wasn't sure if that was supposed to be that way or not. Because of the lifetime warranty it comes with for being fully legal, I probably could fix it if I find some time. Not sure if I'm too urked with it yet to fix it though...

Lmao, it was the choice of the Arch or "Ski Utah!," and I'm not exactly a ski-fanatic. I like how colorful it was. I would rate this license plate MUCH better than the boring "America's Dairyland" Wisconsin ones.

Who's Probe is that in the background? Hate to say, but the racing stripes needs to go...

I love the feeling of the car right after getting it tinted . It feels like you have so much privacy. I did my own ghetto style. Spent 40 bucks on the whole thing.

If someone is planning to drive their car into a ditch its best to do it when you are fully conscious.

at the shop i used, it was a $100 more but came with a warranty (the other kind did not) and i was told that it would never turn bluey like some tints do given enough time

not really. you can see through it during the daytime if youre within about 20 feet of the car. otherwise, yes it is like a mirror.

Wtf? I have 40% on the front and you can see through them at anything less than a meter away. The back is 80% and good luck seeing through those at any time of day, from any distance. Do you guys measure tints differently?

idk. when i bought it said it was 5%. granted it is like looking into a mirror at night but in sunlight you can see through (somewhat) from maybe 20 feet away. you do have to get about 10-5 ft to see semi clearly. i guess thats the only reason i havent gotten a ticket. the legal limit in AR is 35% on the side windows. the only thing we can put on the front is a tint strip along the top of the windshield no more than 5 inches.

the tint effectively becomes darker as the % decreases, at least that's how we measure it in the americas. a 0% tint would be like painting your windows, while an 80% tint would barely be noticable
Fox
hefty debt for window tint? dhahaha

Ah ok. Out here, the percentage is how much light is being blocked out. So if it's 80%, that means 80% of light is being blocked. 100% would be like painting the windows here.

this makes more sense. i never understood why we did tint %ages backward.

Agreed. I never understood this myself. If a window has 0% tinting you would think that meant no tinting.

Sad to say, it was my car during High School mainly. Sad thing too is that it isn't even a GT...it had a wimpy 4-cyl in it. It was quite an upgrade to my Civic Si I have today biggrin.gif

heh......heh....

Sadly, I did.

Not because it was fast or needed those kinds of additions, but because when I was 16, I thought it looked attractive and my dad put the stripes on for me. Looking back at why I would do such a thing, couldn't really tell you.
