A simple question, meant st spark some debate, as I'm bored as shit and am also rather curious where he will end up.
I added every team that wasn't Ferrari or McLaren Mercedes, I know some are pretty big long shots, but I figured I might as well add everyone.

I really think it will be Renault. That is assuming that Flav is willing to dish out some cash for a winning driver.

Williams...just a very random guess.

I hope it is going to be Spyker...
Why ?
Because nobody would espect it.
It would also be a nice test to see if Alonso can handle a Ferrari of some sort...

My gut reaction is Renault, however if I give it a bit of thought, I think BMW would be a great option...

I went Renault because Flav said he would be welcome him back any time and would probably dig deep if he had to. Also I can see Fisichella moving on
BMW have a solid line up and I think both drivers are confirmed for 08.
Honda have confirmed RB and JB for 08.
Williams have a spare seat so that's a real option, although not a positive move for Alonso based on their current performance.
Red Bull certainly have the money to bring Alonso in.
Toyota have a spare seat and money, but I can't see it happening.
Same with Toro Rosso.
Super Aguri no chance.
And he most definitely won't go to Force India (yes that's what Spyker are called now) just to surprise to Patato, that would be ridiculous.

Well Glock is closing in on the seat at Toyota.
Rosberg and Nakajima have been confirmed for Williams.
And some Mexican rich man wants to pay for Alonso to go back to Renault, with Pique Jr as his team mate.

Has Renault announced anything about Kovalainen? He did fairly well this past season, I think it would be a shame to loose him...

If Kovalainen leaves Renault I think McMerc will snap him up!

Williams should go with Alonso over Nakajima

Honestly Renault might not even need to dish out big cash. Renault is the only team that can give Alonso a shot at the 2008 title. All the other teams that still have seats probably be able to compete.
I think it has become a game of poker now. Alonso probably wants to go to Renault because they have the best of available cars but he wants to sign only a one year contract. Flavio wants him too but only with a three year contract. So the question is now who is going to blink first.
And for McLaren the outcome is important as well. Because Rosberg is not available for them - at least stated so by Frank Williams a few days ago - they are looking at Kovalainen who is supposed to go if Alonso signs for Renault. Fisichella already seems to be replaced by Nelson Piquet jr. Alonso to Red Bull = one driver less on the market for McLaren.
Very interesting, the whole thing...
PS: Oh yes, Alonso besides Piquet jr. would make Renault the team of the spoiled brats.

Williams couldn't afford Alonso even if they wanted him.
My prediction:
Alonso and Pique Jr @ Renault - Fisichella becomes test driver.
Hamilton and Kovalainen @ McLaren.
I know Renault were said to be concentrating on the 2008 car so their performance was based on that, but being one step behind one year makes a big difference (see Honda). Still if they do build a car that can challenge for race wins/title and McLaren and Ferrari bring the same dish to the table it could be another cracking season, with 6 great drivers, albeit the Renault drivers will be the most arrogant team on the grid in the history of the sport!

I guess my question would be "was the 2005/2006 Renault chassis a fluke? Or were all the other cars on the grid so bad that it was able to shine?"
I'm wondering, despite the fact that drivers have been confirmed for other teams, an open seat at McLaren and a World Champion driver up for grabs might just provide the kind of situation where a team and a driver may agree to break a contract. If this were closer to March, and lots of testing had been completed, I would feel differently, but I don't think its too much of a stretch to imagine an ambitious BMW driver agreeing to leave...
Also, unless this Pique Jr. guy is the next Hamilton, I would bump him back down to test driver, and go with an Alonso/Kovalainen lineup for '08.
EDITThis may just change Alonso's mind about going back to Renault.

More likely to make him want to go to Renault more lol!
Just realised I've been spelling Piquet Jr wrong all thread!

Looks like the Red Bull option has died for Alonso. Didi Mateschitz told in an interview with a german Motorsport site he wouldn't break the existing contracts with Webber or Coulthard for an Alonso contract over one year. Minimum duration has to be two years with an optional third year.
Ok, stating an intention is a cheap thing of course...

I do know however that Alonso did indeed have a seat fit at Red Bull though.
