What would a modern day Weigert Vector W8 look like if it were still alive? One of our very own Dieselstation readers sent me these renders he made of his vision of the new W8. I think it looks fantastic! the shape is wedgey like most modern supercars, and yet it's still instantly recognizable as a W8. Continue reading for more pictures..

If you have no idea what a W8 is, It was an american supercar back in the late 80's and early 90's that was VERY ahead of its time. the car was made of carbon kevlar which at the time was state of the art, and was powered by a twin turbocharged V8 making 625hp. The car was rated at 200+ mph, but achieved 242mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats. That top speed still could have gone much higher as the car was hindered by a smaller engine and a big drag heavy wing. Who knows what it could have achieved without a wing and a larger engine? However, those kinds of numbers are still deadly even for supercars of today! The interior was heavily influenced by fighter planes of the time. An original Vector W8 is pictured below.

Diesel, you suck, how could you write a description of the W8 and NOT mention the interior at all?!
Diesel

It looks very Lambo to me, but that ain't a negative point, on the contrary I really like it.

Is there a specific reason why the engine is placed 'sideways'?

That's a really striking design, very modern, yet doesn't lose sight of the original. The rear reminds me a bit of the Gallardo, but I don't think that's a bad thing.

thats probably my most favorite interior of all time...
