While this mule was likely a four-cylinder model, we expect a new 3.5L V6 from Honda for the Accord with at least 270 horsepower when the car debuts later this year. Expect lower emissions, however, and tricks like cylinder deactivation to increase the car's fuel economy at the same time. The four-cylinder, meanwhile, will likely have around 180 horsepower. Production of the new Accord should start in September or October with deliveries to dealerships arriving not long after.

I was beginning to wonder when it was due out. This new Camry craze is driving me nuts.
This looks promising, and knowing Honda, they've always delivered with the Accord as a Camry-killer. (IMO, anyways)
My friend just traded traded in the 1983 BMW 320i (tuned by her dad for Laguna Seca) for a 07 Camry SE V6 Auto.

The Accord is always good and competent at everything, but if I was going to buy a car in this genre, the new Altima and the Passat 2.0T are a lot more tempting to me. And the upcoming second-generation Mazda6 could be great...the spy shots I've seen look like a rebadged Mondeo under the camoflauge.

I'm sure this will be a nice car. But I really hope Honda goes 'edgey' on the styling like toyota did with the Camry. This looks like another appliance.

As a driver of an 06 Accord, this is a huge leap backwards in terms of styling IMO.
Honda is seemingly taking the same route as toyota by making their midsize flagship bulbous looking.
It definitely looks like a Sonata, and the front vent openings are just too damn squared off.
I'm rather disappointed, despite the fact that I know this car will deliver, sell like hotcakes, and be utterly reliable. Oh well

looks like there is a lot of BMW influence in that design, especially when viewed in side profile

Hmm, this accord looks lame next to the current one. I do wish Honda would stop being so conservative, especially since the Civic is stunning looking for a family hatchback

Hmm yeah it's not anything interesting to look at. The Camry definitely has it beat in the looks department I would say.

It's pretty chunky and bleh. Same thing could be said about the last Accord, though. The best looking Accords have been the old '89-'93 models and the '98-'02's, though they accomplished that by being completely bland. Seems Honda has trouble making the Accord look anything besides bland or weird.

I hope they don't ruin the Accord 'Euro'. This doesn't look good.

The rear looks really boring. The front end; however, looks rather aggressive and bold...guessing Honda will use the TL motor?

If so, they should use the 3.5 on the Type-S... I believe shared with the RL? However, going on past years, they've never let the Accord beat the Type-S in power, only the base TL.

Sheesh, ya think they can move the headlamps to the rearview mirrors?

...look at how far back the headlights stretch. It's practically the front fender itself.

Oh I thought he was trying to say the rear view mirrors were big enough to fit headlamps on or something...its late

They do stretch back quite a bit. My initial reaction when I first saw the pics was how similar it is to the newest Sebring. Hopefully Honda can make it more attractive than that. I really like the most current body style Accord.

Exactly, that's why I figure they might use the base TL motor. Then again, Camry and Accord are always in the hp war...so it would interesting to see what Honda will do, since base TL is rated at 258 crank and Camry is rated at 268 crank...
It would be kinda nice to have the MDX turbo charged motor in the accord...

He's wrong. I'm pretty sure the MDX is a 3.7L N/A
The RDX has a 2.3L turbo engine. Which I might add drives beautifully.

Oh gotcha...I was about to say I had no idea that thing had a turbo - and I've driven several.
