I don't put it past people being this fucking stupid but putting that much force on a gas pump hose would disconnect it. And even if it didn't, it doesn't stretch that far anyways.

Actually, yeah, gas hoses have a safety mechanism at the the point of where it connects to the pump where it will disconnect from the pump in case someone "forgets" to take it out of there car when they drive away.

When I was watching it it did seem pretty awkward and fake.

Maybe... but never underestimate stupidity.
