Porsche tuner Gemballa has announced a new kit for the Porsche 911 Turbo called the Turbo GT 550. Designed for the new 997 model, it provides increased aerodynamics and a boost to 500 horsepower. The Turbo GT 550 requires less than 3.8 seconds to accelerate to 62 mph, or 3.6 seconds with overboost.

LinkyMore infoHmm...thats one hell of a sexy bugger. I never really liked the new Turbo, but Gembella seems to have rectified that. Black on black looks hawt, and is justified with the brilliant performance. Might've been overkill with the spoiler though...really is the perfect halloween car for the devil.
I was going to say "Oh, look another souped-up Porsche...YAY! DS rejoices" but now...this one is actually pretty hot.

It looks sick! The black paint with black wheels looks badass, and the exhaust are a bit CGT like.
Any idea if the spoiler is really functional or just a big penis extension?

Nice, but not that different from the 650.

Yeh, that's what I was thinking. The new
turbo has 480bhp from the factory. If I was paying <price> for my car to be "Gemballa-ized," I'd expect more than a 20bhp gain.

^Thats why there is only a 0.1 second improvement in the overboost acceleration time.
I read an editorial a while back saying how alot of the companies were ill equipied to improve on the 997 Turbo, due to their lack of experience with VTG technology.

That spoiler is modeled after one which was an option on the 993 GT-2 and RS models...it is functonal.
I have come to the conclusion that I don't like tuned Porsche's...there are a few exceptions, like the RUF 3600S...but for the most part I find them boring and vulgar.

I second that, but I like this one.

Motor authority claims that its 550 bhp. They are right coz the car is actually called 'GT 550' which makes sense. Looks like Leftlanenews fucked up...

We’ve already seen that the new Porsche 911 Turbo is nothing short of astonishing, but if you want even more power, German tuner Gemballa has come to the rescue with the Turbo GT 550. The modified 911 pumps out 550hp and 780Nm of torque, a healthy boost over standard trim.
Gemballa attains these values by fitting a power kit comprising a complete exhaust gas system, including metal sports catalysts and a modified engine management system. The Turbo GT 550 requires less than 3.8 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h, and this is cut to 3.6s with overboost. Top speed is bumped up to 318 km/h, making the Turbo GT 550 some 8 km/h faster than the production version.

i suspect a lot of companies will be ditching the stock VGT turbos for real ones.

I've never seen a Gemballa I didn't like. I'm not a huge fan of some of the paint colors they've used, some of the wings are a bit too big looking, and I don't like how big the Gemballa badge/lettering on the back is. Other than these few minor things, I love them, and this is certainly no exception. Hopefully the 550hp is the correct one.
