Well Apple brought out new iPods today, well they pretty much just upgraded the normal iPods but the shuffle and nano are completely new. And they have iTunes 7 released now which is a lot nicer so far (grab it here). Then you're also able to download movies on it now at 640x480 which isn't too bad I think....almost DVD like quality there. For the normal iPods the new 80GB now has 6.5 hours of battery life with video which is a really nice boost, considering it also has a 60% brighter screen now. They also had some other stuff like iTV, a sort of media router thing. This is what they say about it:

QUOTE
During today’s Showtime event in San Francisco, CA, Apple Computer CEO Steve Jobs offered an unexpected “sneak peek” at the company’s media router, tentatively titled iTV. The device, which is slightly larger than a Mac mini computer dimensionally, is planned for release in the first quarter of 2007 at a price of $299, and enables any iTunes 7-equipped Mac or PC to spool media content to a current-generation television set. iTV includes component video, HDMI, optical audio and RCA-style stereo audio ports, plus an Ethernet port, 802.11 wireless connectivity, and a power cable; the power supply is inside the unit. Videos, music, photos, podcasts, and movie trailers from Apple can all be performed on your home TV/AV system with the unit, which connects either directly to your TV or a set top box. Additional details to come.

Loving the new iTunes with their stolen purchased CoverFlow incorporated into it. And those scroll bars... quite sexy.

I'm happy with my new Sony thing...shame about it's software. Now if only iTunes would work with it...

I was wondering why iTunes kept saying 'It's Showtime!'

This new version looks terrific. Very streamlined and even sexier.

Those new Nanos are just admitting that the Mini was the best iPod ever.

God dammit, I'm assuming iTunes still hasn't released the ability to purchase TV shows or even incorporated into the iTune stores has it? Cause I see it no where.
Halflifehavock13
Phix, I believe they do have tv shows, but I'm not sure where (I have the old ipod with no video so I don't know what the video section looks like, but I know they carry them).

I have a question though, can you put your own video/mpg/wmv/avi video files and play them on your ipod or even ripping a dvd onto it?
Boxster17
Yes you can. I use Videora iPod converter to put Family Guy and what not on to it, then I also use Cucusoft iPod suite or something to rip DVDs to my computer in the proper format, and both seem to work well. You can't just slap avis and what not on them, but using one of those programs you can convert/rip them to the proper iPod format.

You've been able to get TV shows for at least 6-8 months now. Just go to the music store and then click on TV Shows on the left hand column. You'll see it says; Music, Movies, TV Shows, Audiobooks, Podcasts and iPod Games.

It's not there for me.

Just says 'Music, Audiobooks, Podcasts, iPod Games'

Nothing about TV Shows and Movies...

and I just found out why.

I was browsing the Canadian store and not the U.S. store. N/m, all done. biggrin.gif

you guys know that itunes will convert videos into ipod format for you right? just right click the video after it's imported
Boxster17
Actually I didn't know that, I'll test it out now though and see what it's like.

EDIT: Doesn't work quite like you said, you can't import things like AVIs so I don't quite see what you're saying?

Could this new look be the new look of Apple's next Leopard OS?

I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean...the look of the player, or his VS?

In any case, iTunes looks great. Makes my winamp pro look old cry.gif

Anybody having any issues with 7? I read this on Neowin:

QUOTE
THE LATEST version of Apple’s iTunes is proving buggy with punters complaining about poor sound quality and skipping tracks. Version 7 was launched by Apple as the "the most significant enhancement since it debuted in 2001".

Apple customers, not one for complaining until every thing is officially confirmed, have been writing to various message boards to have a moan. We do not think that getting comments like "ITUNES 7 RUINED MY LIFE", "I recommend walking away from Version Seven" are the sort of significant enhancements Apple had in mind.

Yeah I read that yesterday on there. I've had no problems at all over here, so I can't really comment on that.
