Full Version: Spy shots of Porsche Cayenne facelift

QUOTE
Porsche might have reverted to its time-honoured, rounded head lamps and eschewed the 'omelette' lights on the new Boxster and 911 sportsters, but it appears the company is doing the opposite for its Cayenne off-roader.

QUOTE
These latest shots reveal a more aggressive front end for the 4x4, with the guppy-like headlights getting a sharper treatment. There also appears to be a longer front overhang, perhaps tacked on to meet tighter front-impact and pedestrian safety requirements. However, whereas up to 80 percent of body panels were replaced on the new 911 and Boxster models, it appears that the facelifted Cayenne's body shape will remain largely intact...

QUOTE
The car has been on the market since winter 2002 and is now about to undergo a first major restyling scheduled for release in the beginning of 2007 – most likely at the Detroit Motor Show. As can be seen in our pictures, standard Cayennes will feature one huge oval exhaust pipe integrated into each corner of the rear bumper as well as an upright lamp unit at the outer edges of the front air intake.

QUOTE
Turbo Cayennes, however, will receive two pairs of exhausts plus the 911 Turbo’s horizontally mounted LED unit incorporated into the front air intakes. The Turbo will also feature wider fenders and more sculpted side skirts. Quite obviously chrome has come back in many places. Inside the Cayenne the design and styling has also been remodelled making the next Cayenne generation even more luxurious.

Personally, I think it looks great!

Are you just reposting everything on worldcarfans? lol.

I'm not a huge fan of the new headlights, but it does look a bit sleeker than the current Cayenne.

rofl, yes... the interesting news at least. Or atleast what I think would make good discussion on DS... I mean, WCF doesn't exactly have a comment system now does it?
BadBoi
I like it better than the new BMW facelift.
darinzon
They're both pieces of shit, facelift or none.
Jordan
the back disguise looks like a XC90.
McKhaos
Looks like a fucking Ssangyong .

If you're referring to the X5, that wasn't a facelift, it was a complete redesign, and it actually looks good IMO.

Unfortunately you're right...the pre-facelift may not have been the prettiest car, but it was certainly a Porsche.
mikey884
dry.gif ooohhhh man... now it doesnt even look like a porshce any more..... they should have at least kept the original head liights....... now it looks like a suzuki or something.......
Boxster17
I don't see where you people are getting Ssangyong and Suzuki and stuff from, it looks just about exactly like the current one, with a couple tweaks here and there.
David23
Still pointless, facelift or not. I know they did agricultural equipment before, but that served some purpose at least.

You think that if we didn't have the Cayenne we'd have Porsche expanding and making some of the cars they have. The Cayenne brings in a ton of money for Porsche to expand their lineup with things like the Panamera, and the Carrera GT, both of which I doubt would be possible without the success of the Cayenne.
bing5500
revamping the Cayenne is like giving Michael Jackson another facelift: you can't fix ugly.

Somehow the light shape is similar...I saw the Kyron yesterday, I swear for a second I thought it was the facelifted Cayenne...and this Kyron doesn't really look like the one I saw for some reason as well...

Yes, economically speaking you are quite right and I'm glad they are making money with the Cayenne. But the thing is just so un-Porsche to me that I feel a bit annoyed that Zuffenhausen jumped on the SUV bandwagon in the first place (childish, I know). It just doesn't fit the image I associate with Porsche.

And what a funny engineering challenge: let's combine disadvantages from a limo with those of a 4x4 and then try to make it suck the least possible.

I'll stop ranting now though -- I think the SUV debate is getting a bit old ;-).

I've never hated the Cayenne. It made a strong case for people that not only want good on-road dynamics, but also real off-road ability. It's still very much a Porsche...
bing5500
Yes, you can't argue against it road credentials (like you can with the BMW X3)...I just think the damn thing is ugly as hell.
Frederf
Hey that does look better. A lot less paint up front and a lot more grill instead.

Well, I disagree. It has no real off-road ability with standard tyres. And with off-road tyres say good by to on-road capabilities.

IMVHO, most owners would benefit if they'd lower the thing and fit some performance road tyres. Never seen a Cayenne (or a Touareg, or one of these obese Volvos) with even a little mud on them.

Speaking from a euro perspective of course -- YMMV.
moe
I've seen the Cayenne go pretty far off-road, though I have to agree that they're very tire sensitive.

I think that this new style is ... quite revolutionary ... do You agree with me ? rolleyes.gif

Those new headlights look very Chrysler-ish. Even so, *yaaaaaaawn...*

The grill doesn't look more aggressive to me, just extremely over-sized.

The slats on the grill are to prevent small children from being sucked into the engine bay (someone should photoshop that)...
