Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne said during a conference call Wednesday that the Alfa Romeo brand will return to the United States in late 2007. Over the past few months, rumors intensified of Alfa’s return, but they were not officially confirmed until Wednesday. The cars are expected to be distributed through the existing Maserati dealer network. The new Alfa Brera Spider and and 159 Sportwagon (and/or sedan) will most certainly be among the vehicles headed for U.S. shores. We also have a sneaking suspicion that Alfa might coincide the U.S. rollout with the launch of the production 8C Competizione.

OMG...they're going to build the 8C...

It seems like for five years now they've been saying "Alfa's coming back to the US, Alfa's coming back to the US!"

I mean, the 159 looks like a car that would do very well here, but I'm skeptical until I see one here on the road, or at least a very official press release.

Originally I thought they were going to relaunch the brand with the introduction of the 159, then the Brera, but it seems they want to make a really big entrance.

My neighbour just bought a 159 Sportwagon... It's sexy as hell. it would do well in the US, i think.

Hopefully the 8C production version is identical to the concept. I can't wait for that car, it's truly a modern styling masterpiece.

I'm seriously doubting this story about Alfa coming to America. The eavesdroping phone conversation details are sketchy and claiming that Alfa's will be distributed through the Maserati's USA dealership network, 42 dealers, is just silly. Advertising for people to come to an exotic dealership to buy a $45K stationwagon is just asking for chaos.

But with Alfa's gorgeous international lineup, I profoundly hope to be proven wrong about this.

It would be wonderful if the 8c was produced but i dont think it will i read somewhwere that it would cause cannibalism between maserati slaes and alfa sales, everyone would ditch the masers and go for the alfa. freaked.gif

What a sweet manufacturer. I hope it happens.
