Super Brit packs a 500bhp punch
We get the impression the Caparo T1 will be aimed at a certain type of buyer, with the news that the British supercar will be unveiled at the Monaco Top Marques motor show on April 20.
Of course, Caparo has not roped in just anyone to pull back the covers. Oh no. The manufacturer has rounded up His Serene Highness Prince Albert II.
We'd have done it for a packet of pork scratchings just to get a first glimpse of the 1,000bhp-per-tonne T1.
Tipping the scales at less then 500kg, which is lighter than a Caterham 7, and with a 500bhp V8 engine, the T1 is claimed to be able to destroy 0-60mph in a mere 2.5 seconds.
The British-designed and -built car will also be able to manage 0-100mph in five seconds and top 190mph, while the sophisticated chassis and suspension made from lightweight materials helps the car corner with the same ability as a Le Mans racer.
And before the tree-hugging community start getting their dreadlocks in a twist, the Caparo T1 will also be able to turn in a very respectable 32.5mpg. Try that in a Bugatti Veyron.
Caparo says it has taken firm orders for the car before a production model has even turned a wheel, but it promises the T1 will be the most affordable supercar in the world. Join the queue just behind us.

wow, i quite like it, i would want one!

Wow sounds pretty cool. Looks pretty nice too, though I'm not big on the funky axel thing with all the crossing metal bars. Pretty sick 0-60, though I think I'll need to see it to believe it--it is incredibly light though. That's almost too fast! I definitely want one...
Too bad the Veyron goes 252 though...I thought the Veyron comment was kindof dumb.

I think it would look pretty sweet if the body on either side extended from the rear up to the front fenders, but it's still pretty cool looking. has there been a real one made yet?

Well...this isn't an F1 car. I guess they figure though that it must work out to thier advantage for a production car. Is this thing going to be street legal anyway? If it's not what's the point? Is the idea here to build a production car that's half F1? I don't really know anything about F1, but how F1 is this?

the design of the car is supposed to be F1-esque, so i guess they added the F1 looking suspension, etc.. to make it look even more like the front end of an F1 car. I don't know how close those specific parts are to F1 cars but i'd assume they're made more to look like an F1's parts than actually being the same parts.

How awesome is this?!
A production F1-ish car. And the front exposed links aren't there because they look cool, the wheels need to be connected somehow

edit - it's slightly different cause this was the concept when it was called the Freestream T1
(its got a close-up of the front suspension, etc... too.)

i probably said this before (repost), but i think the back would look less stupid if it had more of a swept back style rear wing, like a1gp cars.

I like suspensions where you can see the wheel from the cockpit, you know exactly where the tire is so you rarely miss an apex

seeing as how the width of the "cockpit" is about the width of the front two tires - 1.

The shocks are pushrod actuated, it's how most open-wheel racecars are set up. Here's a pic of the front suspension on the Porsche Carrera GT. Imagine the shocks are pointing straight towards the driver and that's how the Caparo works.

And I love the Caparo, it's a monumental salute to automotive insanity.
