Got it last night from the 3 network - www.three.com.au

Excellent phone. I'm now video calling my friends! I switched from Vodafone b/c all my friends here are on three and I wanted to watch TV on my mobile and video call them. Not to mention hook it up to my laptop and surf the web at 384Kbps - that's faster that most DSL lines! Coverage for 3G is excellent in all major cities in Australia. Then worldwide where they have it, I can roam on it too. Anywhere else in the world I just go to standard GSM.

It's even got a TWO megapixel camera!

WOW. nice. how much was that in USD? i like the videoconferencing feature.

cost me absolutely nothing up front. paying $15/month for the phone over 2 years so it's about $350 AUD. if you were to buy it outright immediately, it's $529 AUD.

The outright price in USD is about $450...which is what you can buy it for in the US right now...but you won't be able to use it on any carrier except as a standard GSM phone. It runs UMTS...which is essentially WCDMA - wideband CDMA 3G but that's not the same CDMA that you're thinking of with sprint and verizon. It's pure GSM quad band plus 3G.

The best part is work is footing the monthly mobile bill anyway so I really didn't pay anything for it nor will I!

Whoa, that's awesome! The videocall feature and laptop hook up make me want one. My normal razr seems so plain now. Err wait, it's plain to begin with.

Also, when did you move to Australia and what did you do with your mini?

3G just came to Qatar and it's much too expensive to consider (not to mention none of my friends have it yet either), it still hasn't even reached Saudi shores. I went ahead and got the Sony Ericsson K600i, it's nice solid little phone, with 3G features and everything, only thing is it doesn't have expandable storage.

how well do these phones stand up (the MOTOs)...My contract is up in a few months, and this is one of the options for the new phone if I renew.

video conferencing just comes out of your $$ allocation per month. the phone plans in the rest of the world are different from the US. it's not a minute-based system. Here you pay different amounts per month that give you a monetary value to fill with calling/txt/video etc...it comes out of that.

some of the channels cost extra...like playboy.

the lag is really quite minimal surprisingly but you do need a good signal, and in the city that's not a problem.

the apt is $1600 USD/month...it is fully furnished. i just brought my clothes.

I think that apartment needs a Flat screen tv. That other one looks out of place... Oh, and I am moving in.... =b

yes, it could use a lovely 70" wega flat screen i saw recently. but i've been watching tv on the phone instead!

I really love the V3x, unlike the gayzr. Here's a comparison of our phones. Yours is much newer, and has the 2mp cam, but we're not too far apart. Except you can use yours ....I'm still waiting for the unlock from mine.

Edit: Oh, and you have a much larger inside screen. My outside one is a few pixels larger though
