Hello everyone, new to the forum and have a couple of ?s.

A buddy of mine is out in the field trying to figure out why these brand new engines are breaking the studs that connect the turbo to the exhaust manifold. They have both done it a couple of times now. head.gif

He has had the Cat tech look at them and he says everything is ok with his install.

So does anyone have experience with these engines and if so is this a common problem and what to do to fix it.

Thanks
DakianDelomast
I would be amazed if anyone here even knew what motors those are.

contact Cat about it, not a web forum filled with kids

The "Diesel" part of dieselstaton.com is completly misleading, we actually really have nothing to do with diesel engines in general.

lmao I never thought the first confusion we had with the name would be a question about a caterpillar engine either.

What are the Cat engines used in? I have experience with fire trucks powered with Cat diesels, never had any problems.

There could just be a bad batch of bolts/studs from the manufacturer of same.

You could pull a couple of them and have them magnafluxed to check for any internal defects.

Kataracts and heavy machines used in earth moving.

Well I'm glad I gave everyone a good laugh...who would have thought that a diesel forum really doesn't talk about them.

You could be right about the studs though, but like I said it has happened a couple of times so the studs have been replaced already. Something to think about.

A tech from Cat has looked at them and can't figure it out loser.gif

Thanks arnge for the link, will check over there.

By the way I do drive a Dodge with the Cummins so maybe I will stick around to amuse you guys some more biggrin.gif

It's not like we're against diesels (well, dakian is) but we're just a general automotive discussion forum.

You're welcome to stick around, of course smile.gif
PAULIE_D
^ I concur. Please stick around. You can inject some additional diesel knowledge into the forum.

Come on, I think we've had SOME discussions about Diesels. Didn't a new member have a "hey, my dad just got a Passat TDI" post sometime? And didn't Arnge post something about the MB E320 CDI? And I know Clark started a thread about the VW EcoRacer concept. Admittedly, I can count the number of conversations about diesels I've seen here on my fingers, but it's not like they're given the silent treatment automatically.

Don't forget b00st's diesel mercedes and the whole Audi R10 thing. And I know we've discussed the Jeep Liberty CRD to some length as well.

my car has a diesel variant... if that means anything.

You guys seem to be a great bunch so yeah I'll stick around and have some fun.

Cat ia already involved with this but they seem unable to figure it out...just trying to help a friend out because he is frustrated with the hole deal because he is out in the sticks in Oklahoma (working on them)and lives in Denver.

Hey besides my Dodge I have a 06' Chrysler 300C AWD, maybe we can talk about that instead of diesels... tongue_orig.gif
arnge
Send some pics.

and we 'll talk biggrin.gif
