It's very slow, but ultimately very powerful. The final 45 minutes or so are amazing. I highly recommend it, unless you have ADD. You can also see how the relationship between Truman Capote and Perry Smith is sort of a metaphor for the relationship between the public and Truman.

I've always wanted to see this movie after Conan O'Brien made a joke out of the movie on one of his skits but I still have no idea what it's about.

It's about Truman Capote as he's writing In Cold Blood, quite possibly the most famous true crime novel of all time, since it's the first such novel. Guess you can't really call it a novel though, since it was non-fiction. So true crime story would be more appropriate.

I actually think Catherine Keener is pretty hot, just not in this movie. But in Being John Malkovich and Death to Smoochy, she's hot. Not hott, but still hot.
