Top German carmaker BMW doesn't exist any more -- that is, if you search for it using Google as almost everyone does.
Google has stripped BMW from its listings because the company was manipulating the search engine's results. A Google spokeswoman told the FT: "We cannot tolerate Web sites trying to manipulate search results as we aim to provide users with the relevant and objective search results."
BMW's crime was to use so-called "doorway pages" to redirect users to different pages from that seen by the search engine's automated Web crawlers. BMW said it was surprised because Google hadn't spoken to the carmaker about it, but remained confident that BMW would soon be reinstated.
According to the FT, BMW spokesman Marc Hassinger said that just 0.4 per cent of BMW.de’s traffic came via search engines such as Google, because most people wanting to visit the site either knew or could guess the correct address.
What's worse than being de-googled?
dont really know what good this will do, as if you search for BMW then thousands of websites still come up, just no thte german homepage
You'd have to be an idiot not to type in BMW.com in the first place...

dats a shame but bmw already sell enough cars if you have ever been to a car show youll notice most of the time they dont have a stand like merc or the others because they have enough sales and potential buyers anyway

BMW International and BMW USA are still the top results for BMW in Google, and if I recall correctly were before. BMW.de was listed after BMW World, BMW Car Club of America, BMW Motorcycles and BMW.co.uk too I think.

What car shows do you go to?!
Anyways, I don't really see how this will make any difference, as you can just go to the BMW Int'l site and then get to the German site from there.

Odds are that people who want to go to BMW.de are Germans, who are way smarter than Americans anyway and will just type in BMW.de into their browser... which they coded themselves... in a programming language they wrote... on a computer they built from sand... with their bare hands and maybe a sausage.
Stupid companies everywhere are unscrupulous. But what can you expect from a car company that's basically a big club for realators and laywers.

Stop. Butchering. The. Language.
If you can't be bothered THEN GET THE FUCK OUT.
Oh, but of course you won't.... you have to now make a reply to this post which is no doubt even more shattered and ineligible trying to insult me and further pointing out that "bmw dont need to worry about sad shits" cause they sell a lot of cars and have no need for stands at Auto Shows.
Ugh.

For starters apologies: im sorry to anyone that has been offended by anything written by my account
im sorry for the punctuation used in remarks under my account
but it wasnt actually me Matt who has been writing them, i have been on hols for the last week and my best mate who was looking after stuff used my account. He is incredibly dumb and doesn't even know that much about cars. I do agree with his first remark about BMW but thats about it and if you don't believe this check the punctuation.

Bring Matt back. I like him better than your new persona which you're using to try and dig yourself out of your hole.
