I don't think the speedo is completely accurate, because you will notice that at the end he drops from 300km/h(?) down to 100km/h in like 10 secs or something. And it doesn't seem that he uses the brakes, it seems he just lets it slide (no nose dip) now IMO that is completely not possible.

I am open to sugegstion, if you think otherwise.

I have seen another video of a TT busa on the roads he is doing 200km/h wheelie, and weaving in and out of traffic, that video is believeable, to me at least.

That actually sounded really dumb, didn't it.
Mr b00st
i am thinking the speedo was in kh/h not mph.
Mitlov
The video isn't working for me, but:

(1) A stock Busa can go 185 mph, so 15mph more isn't hard to believe.

(2) Motorcycles accelerate and brake so much faster than cars it isn't even funny. That's what happens when bike+human=500 lbs or less.

yeh, thats what i'm thinking, too. take a screenshot and enhance it to see if it says km/h anywhere and on the speedometer.
Brohim
Well the smaller numbers are a higher value at every point than the bigger numbers....so i think its in MPH....unless they somehow set it so they read the smaller number instead?

Dude, that is my grandad on the bike, and I'm not even kidding. He shot this at least 3 years ago on a highway in Florida. It was on his silver modded Hyabusa he owned. He is a bike freak and used to own a motorcycle parts shop down in Florida. He showed our family the video and put it on his personal website for just us to see. I guess someone found it somehow and posted it up. Its weird seeing it now after not seeing it for like 3-4 years...

The speedo is in mph and it looks like it topped out at 220 mph.

This video is very old but it still impresses.

Yah we all totally believe you. Especially since the video has been on the internet for probably longer than 3 years.

Actually, I 50% believe him.

For as little as he seems to be around I doubt kbtitan would blatantly lie like that.

Black RSX
Well that video of that guy crashing into a tree on a red Suzuki SV650 IS my brother-in-law. So I really can say that when it gets posted up time after time!!!!

Plus I was the one who filmed it. Cool to know I posted one of the funnest internet vids...

Oh dang, you caught me! Yeah I couldn't care less whether you believe me or not. Heck I could go ahead and tell you my great-grandad founded Krispy Kreme but I'd be lying about that too. Whatever...

Isn't there a speed governer on most motorcycles at ~190mph? I think the speedometer on this bike is intentionally miscalibrated as a way around that.

No, but most of them wont go that fast anyways.

you are really boring kbtitan. that superior lack of enthusiasum(sp?) doesnt go over too well on the internet. and sarcasm is usually emphasized with tone of voice, and the only persons voice i've ever heard on DS is z0ne so how would any of us know your tone of choice was sarcasm?

What are you smoking? Motorcycles DO NOT out-brake cars. Think about it. They has two tiny strips of rubber on the ground while cars have 4 fat rubber contact patches. The only advantage bikes have is acceleration and maybe cornering speed (in very few instances).

I also highly doubt his speedo is correct. My friend who is a bike nut says naked bikes (no under farrings) are INCREDIBLY unstable at speeds over 100mph.

Actually those speeds could easily be correct. I am one person in a HUGE (15+ riders) family of motorcycle riders. I have videos of my cousin riding wheelies at 130+MPH. Motorcycle speedos become inaccurate at anything over 120+, though usually only by about 10-15mph. You are totally correct about braking though. Motorcycles DO NOT out brake cars by any means. Most people dont understand this while driving cars especially people who do no know anything about motorcycles, thus the drivers over-estimating the motorcycle and not giving themselves enough time to cross an intersection or pull onto another road. In most cases its not that high powered motorcycles are dangerous, its uneducated drivers. IMO in order to get you drivers licence you should have to take a short course on the principles of motorcycles as well. If you brake to hard on a motorcycle it will start to swap back and forth (tankslapper) and at any speeds it can cause pretty serious injury or death.

Braking is directly related to momentum. Momentum, if you check a physics book, is velocity times MASS. Modern sportbikes have dry weights of around 350-375 lbs. For comparison, an STi has a curb weight of 3351 lbs--nearly ten times that. Even with the rider and fluids, sportbikes should weigh well under 600 lbs.

Regarding contact patches, sportbike tires are SOFT. Think lifespans of 5000-8000 miles.

Sportbikes weigh about 300-400 lbs. This doesnt mean they brake for shit though.
