How can I download streaming Real Player or Windows Media video files to my PC. If I "right click - save target as," only the html web page file (where the video is linked to) is saved. I want to save the actual video file.
I'm trying to download the videos on this webpage to my hard drive :

Real has worked very hard to make it very difficult for you to do so. That was the idea of Real streaming files in the beginning, that the user couldn't save them to their hard drive. A while ago, some company made software that could save the Real stream, but they were sued out of existence, and I forget the name of the software anyways. If the files are coming from a streaming Real server, you're boned. Sorry.

I have software that will allow you to capture a certain part of your screen in video format if you really want it.

That sounds cool. Is the file size small enough to e-mail to me ?

I downloaded a Shareware version of a program called CamStudio.
I tried to record the section of the screen which was displaying the Real Player streaming video. It captured the part of the window that I highlighted for recording but did not capture the video image itself.
I guess it is impossible to save these videos to your PC.

Video streams in most applications are done after normal screen drawing somehow. I don't really understand it, but its the same reason its so difficult* to get screenshots of movies.
*difficult, but not impossible.

you know, even streaming video is saved to your computer, just click on the link normally and watch teh video, after its done (this is considering that you have XP) go to C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
view by details and sort by file size and you should find the video or audio file in there
this method works great for getting mp3's off www.mp3.com that dont have the download link

Are you referring to Streambox VCR? If so, I bet you could do a search (google) and find it to download, as copyright laws don't apply in many non-U.S. countries.

Yes, that's the name. And very few countries havn't adopted the U.S. copyright laws. That's why they're called "International" copyrights. Most of the countries that don't have the copyright law, by the way, also don't have a whole lot of internet. Because companies are afraid to sell their stuff at those places.
However, I'm sure that you can get ahold of the software with Hotwire or something like that, now that you have the name.
