Clarkson gets the GT back

if you dont feel like reading the whole article...he missed the car, so he had Ford de-tune the alarm, remove the lo-jack, and filldle with the sat nav, so it wont mess with his engine management...but his "check engine" light still comes on.

He just decided he was traeting a weekend car, like an everyday car, which he concludes was wrong

Why, why in the world would a man of that position and power re-buy the Ford GT, why? And yet again he fails buy buying an SLK 55 when he could have just as easily gotten a Porsche 911.

he famously hates 911s...to the point that even if he really liked the 997, he would seem like such a hypocrite buying one that he would never get away with it...

why not buy a C-GT...ok, so it is 2x more $$ but Clarkson could afford it...and it would be built properly...He must have loved driving the Ford GT when it was working, before he sent it back.

A C-GT is more than 3 times more than the GT, leif, and I don't think he's THAT rich. Plus, he waited two years for that GT and he's loved them since he was a kid.

Besides, if he was gonna spend that much money on a supercar he'd probably buy a Zonda.

a girl I went to elementary school with was dropped off every day by her dad in his black 930 Turbo...Everyday I would wait for her to arive so I could see that car...perhaps that explains my obsession with 911s

(not to argue any further, but a C-GT is listted as 320,000GBP while i think the Ford GT listed at 130,000-150,000GBP)

I'm sure clarkson makes enough where he could at least finance one. Maybe he just doesnt want a C-GT. I bet hes scared of it

F430, DB9 anyone?

The F430 and the DB9 both cost as much as his GT. I really don't think Clarkson is rich enough to buy 300,000 pounds worth of cars in one year.
What I expected him to get was an M5.

Yeah honestly, he could have gotten a nice F430 that he so raved about in his show.

I think he wanted a M5, but the guy loves 2 door sports cars (ferrari 355, BMW 2002 CSL, SL55, Ford GT, SLK 55) they all fit into the same niche...so i think it would be a stretch for him to buy an M5...

not to compare my self to Clarkson...but when I bought my Legacy, i had to take a week or so to get over the "I just bought a family car" blues...so i can kinda relate to not wanting to get a 4 door car.

But he just sold an XC90.

that was his wifes car, and she replaced it with a swiss army Land Rover with machine gun mounts (his wife sounds like a very cool person by the way)

Well the thing is just because you like a car a lot doesn't mean you want to buy one and own it. I mean I'd love to have an F430 myself but there is no way I could keep it. It's so flashy everybody would be around me constantly like "OMG NICE CAR OMG OMG", its annoying. He can get that uber Benz and nobody will even turn their head towards it.

Again, the whole point of him taking back the Ford GT is a nostalgic thing. He's loved the GT's since he was 6 years old. I pretty much figured he would find a way around all those problems he was complaining about.

Also, it's pretty much with you and your RX-8 obsession. Rotary this, rotary that, RX-8 is Godly, etc. etc. Now if somebody dropped an F430 and an RX-8 in front of you which one would you take? The car which you've been a fanatic towards or the Ferrari simply because it has superior specifications?

For what the RX-8 is and how it performs, I call it a miracle. It has a 9000RPM redline which is insanely ridiculous to start off with, its very sexy, it has a perfect 50:50 power weight ratio, has 4 seats AND can double as a grocery-getter! :heart:

It does have a 50:50 F:R weight distribution, and with a sizable trunk, it's probably the best sports car out there to go get groceries with.

If I had to get rid of my sports cars, and just have one car for everything...it would be an RX-8 for sure...I loved the ones I have driven, and thought it was amazing that the base spec was so well equipped...6 speed manual, sport seats, Cd player, air con...etc, all for $40,000cdn.
