Don't know how old or new this is, but they discovered roughly where these critters lurk beneath the ocean, and at 900 meters below the surface they captured shots of this!

I've been accidentally following the attempts to photograph a giant squid in the ocean for a couple years now. Cool that they finally managed it smile.gif

As big as a bus? whistle.gif

That's a lot of calamari! Let me warm up my deep fryer.
midnightdorifto
Estimated 26 feet long.

Wow awesome! It'd probably be useful to look at the deep sea for wierd creatures in that we haven't found yet, then to look for aliens.
Black RSX
I want to give it a hug.

Yeah, true. I think people should first discover/explore what's right beneath our feet, rather than to look to the skies first.

Psh, who cares. What's better? Building an underwater city on the same boring (dying) planet or mastering the ability of space travel and colonizing efforts?

What if the answer to all lifes questions and the ability to save our planet was in the unexplored sea? It'd be hell of a lot easier to go 10 kilometers down then to fly a couple of light years away.

Phix, you Phule, you Phail.

That's all I have to say

What if I was made of carbon fiber?

Yeah they do get bigger, there is the Giant Squid and then there is whats called a Collossal Squid, which is bigger than the Giant Squid. This one is 8 metres which is about the size of a London double decka bus. They go up to I think 30 metres, where they start to attack and munch of Sperm Whales.

Good point...we make a mandate to return back to the Moon & Mars which are very worthy causes but we should be also exploring places closer to home like our own oceans. Also, I wonder how far down could we excavate into the earth's crust...
