Golf-based folding hardtop cabriolet with a ridiculously complex roof. Power options will be the 2.0T and the 3.2 VR6 in the states, european power starts at 115 HP. It's more petite than the Concept C, but I'd still say it's the best looking example of VW's new styling direction... Unfortunately, that folding metal roof means 1) there will never be a coupe version and 2) it will be fat, have variable trunk space (i.e. none when the top is down) and 3) did I mention how it will be fat?

Ah well, it makes for nice eye candy.

Mr b00st
the roof folding action totally makes my face hurt.

but this is probably my new favorite convertible. (I mean aside from MkIII Miata Ltd, S2000 facelift, Tamora... etc... like, non-sports car convertible)

will the 3.2 come with DSG standard? Probably...

Probably at first...I expect the manual will make its way down the line eventually. It will probably be 4motion-only indefinitely, though.
Mr b00st
its ok 250bhp to the front wheels tests the chaos theory smile.gif
moe89
wouldnt be caught dead in one.
Mr b00st
because it's not a 2.2L camry in beige?
McKhaos
The side looks very Renault Megane CC-ish .
h2opmpr
It's flat out ugly.

ha you've caught on! biggrin.gif but seriously, this is one of the most womanly cars i have ever seen.
clarkma5
It is a bit slab-sided and girly, but it's hardly the most feminine car evar, and it's hardly ugly.

no it looks good actually, but it has a strong feminineness to it.

ITS GHEY !!
Keitero-sama
I can see my mom drive one. But I'd rather see her in the new 3rd gen MX-5.
White RSX
Ugly, heavy, and looks japanese.

Yup, standard new VW right there.
clarkma5
Heavy yes, but I don't see the ugly OR the japanese.
Phix
Looks German. Looks heavy. She's kind of attractive whose being hugged by the guy. I'd love to own one if it isn't as long as it seems to be.
White RSX
Chop the roof off a new Corolla.

Ugly and japanese.

Ugly and japanese.

This does not look like a corolla.

FACE.
White RSX
Yes it does, an uglier, shorter Corolla, but a Corolla none-the-less.
clarkma5
The things you'd have to do to a corolla to make it look like this car would make it...not a Corolla anymore.
White RSX
But it would be this ugly, cantankerous thing.
clarkma5
lies. I will hear none of your lies!

This car will be overweight and no fun to drive, but I refuse to hear that it's ugly. It is a genuinely good looking car, albeit a bit girly, End Of Story.
White RSX
Ugly As Sin.

Much better.

It looks sleepy and dumpy Clark, like a five year old running on two hours of sleep for three days.
clarkma5
Oh, now you're just stretching for reasons to dislike it. It's perky! Just look at those eyes!
White RSX
About as perky as a dead bird.
clarkma5
Enough of your lies!
White RSX
*Crushes Clark's soapbox*
clarkma5
I was just having fun for the last few posts. Although I honestly don't see what you find ugly about it...I know I'm not about to change your mind.
Mr b00st
dude... this looks nothing at all like a corolla... i can see the MkV jetta looking somewhat like it (although that's really a stretch, and it's been discussed ad nauseum, and you really have to be pretty ignant to think it) but this looks not much like the Jetta... its like, point out one thing that's corolla-esque?
bing5500
Will the Barbie vehicle be released at the same time as the regular car?

No, the Barbie edition will follow in Q4 2006. tongue_orig.gif

And b00st: I think it's obvious to see why people say the Jetta looks like a Corolla, though I don't really agree with that judgement...that's a case of "yeah, I see your point but I disagree."

Comparing this car to the Corolla basically has me scratching my head and saying "I really can't see what you're talking about".

Headlights and taillights look Corolla-ey to me.

And who cares? tard.gif
Mr b00st
ahh whatever... i'll go with clarkma's advice...

"you're an idiot, but whatever"
Mitlov
The interior looks really nice. But I much prefer the exterior of the new C70.
Renesis
looks fucking good, too bad it prolly won't be sporty
Mark Knopfler
Not my cup of tea, it's sort of bland, but it looks strangely attractive, kinda classy.
DZ302
it looks pretty good, the front is too short though.
Twinscrew
this car is really hot.

What I really want to see in time for detroit is the good ol concept R that is supposed to really blow my socks off.
DakianDelomast
It really looks like a discombobulation of parts. The top down looks goofy with that rakish windscreen, and with the top up the way the roofline just abruptly ends looks even goofier.

It doesn't look like the same car from different angles. Its like they hacked the front off of a passat and put it on a GTI that they cut the roof off of.

DakianDelomast
That's what I think whenever I see the car.

I mean look at the side profile with the roof up. It just looks like this generic lump of a car that doesn't have a purpose.

Its not a roadster, its not a grand tourer, its just kind of... there.

That happens to me when I see the RX-8. I mean look at the thing it's like a coupe with 4 doors, 2 of them look like afterthoughts, and it has the stance of a sports car but it's a sedan.
DakianDelomast
Maybe I'm gifted but I see a purpose in the RX-8.

Its a sports car for those with budding families. You can fit groceries in the back, small kids in the back seats, and wife in the passenger seat.

The Eos on the other hand I just don't understand.

Well, yeah, I'm laughing because when I clicked on the quote button you were saying "Try to stay on topic", but it looks like you couldn't stand that and went for the edit and the defense of the RX-8. AHAHAHA.
DakianDelomast
I figured "try to stay on topic" was a pretty weaksauce excuse so I put some fire back into what I was writing.
