the roof folding action totally makes my face hurt.
but this is probably my new favorite convertible. (I mean aside from MkIII Miata Ltd, S2000 facelift, Tamora... etc... like, non-sports car convertible)
will the 3.2 come with DSG standard? Probably...

Probably at first...I expect the manual will make its way down the line eventually. It will probably be 4motion-only indefinitely, though.

Ugly, heavy, and looks japanese.
Yup, standard new VW right there.

Yes it does, an uglier, shorter Corolla, but a Corolla none-the-less.

The things you'd have to do to a corolla to make it look like this car would make it...not a Corolla anymore.

lies. I will hear none of your lies!
This car will be overweight and no fun to drive, but I refuse to hear that it's ugly. It is a genuinely good looking car, albeit a bit girly, End Of Story.

dude... this looks nothing at all like a corolla... i can see the MkV jetta looking somewhat like it (although that's really a stretch, and it's been discussed ad nauseum, and you really have to be pretty ignant to think it) but this looks not much like the Jetta... its like, point out one thing that's corolla-esque?

No, the Barbie edition will follow in Q4 2006.

And b00st: I think it's obvious to see why people say the Jetta looks like a Corolla, though I don't really agree with that judgement...that's a case of "yeah, I see your point but I disagree."
Comparing this car to the Corolla basically has me scratching my head and saying "I really can't see what you're talking about".

It really looks like a discombobulation of parts. The top down looks goofy with that rakish windscreen, and with the top up the way the roofline just abruptly ends looks even goofier.
It doesn't look like the same car from different angles. Its like they hacked the front off of a passat and put it on a GTI that they cut the roof off of.

That's what I think whenever I see the car.
I mean look at the side profile with the roof up. It just looks like this generic lump of a car that doesn't have a purpose.
Its not a roadster, its not a grand tourer, its just kind of... there.

That happens to me when I see the RX-8. I mean look at the thing it's like a coupe with 4 doors, 2 of them look like afterthoughts, and it has the stance of a sports car but it's a sedan.

Maybe I'm gifted but I see a purpose in the RX-8.
Its a sports car for those with budding families. You can fit groceries in the back, small kids in the back seats, and wife in the passenger seat.
The Eos on the other hand I just don't understand.
