My cousin just bought a black '96 Jetta GLS 5-spd and I'm wondering how it ranks up there in reliability? I know everything I've read from other Jetta owners from carsuvey.com states a bunch of electrical problems.

MkIII Jettas are pretty solid cars. The 2.0 is a basically bulletproof engine. The only thing I would rate as a potential worry would be the synchros in the tranny.

Reliable as it may be, that won't help it's main downfall.

The MkIII Jetta is too ugly to be a chick car. It's sorta just a...car.

What really bugs me about the MK3 is the headlights. These aftermarket headlights are my favourite for the MKIII...

Anyway, sorry about the previous comment. I had just thought that the "FNBN" was a response to "FUBU," not the Jetta itself, and I thought the N stood for, well, the N word. Glad I was wrong. Never mind.
