But seriously, I'll be gone...temporarily. I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday, April 26th) for Vallejo, CA to get prepped for my spring quarter aboard the T.S Golden Bear. I'll actually be setting sail on the morning of Sunday, May 1st and I shan't be back until late June 29th (effectively the 30th). I'm saying this now because I don't have any idea if I'm going to have dieselstation access while in Vallejo before I leave, and I wanted to leave time to answer some questions for you yokels.

I'll be spending that time on an ex-military 500 foot educational vessel through the south pacific (map of where I'm going is here: http://www.squick.org/ffa/bin/sopacruise3.gif )

#8 = Honolulu, HI (where I will then fly by chartered flight back to Oakland, CA)

While on the boat I will be taking normal classes 6 days a week (minus days in ports, sundays are always off) from normal professors and will also have a couple days of mess hall duty while on board and will have to clean up the ship for about a half hour every day, and will have to do a couple drills here and there...so it's not like this is a CRUISE, it's WORK! (Work in the South Pacific )

holy shit, i watched that movie last night. then i watched it with director commentary. then i watched it with cast commentary. ITS SO FUCKING COOL!!!! i got the dvd from netflix and proceeded to rip and burn it for all my friends because it was just such an awesome movie. one of the best indy films ive ever seen. and the best part is, i totally understand it, all the tricky time lapses and foreshadowing and all that, im the one who explains its to everyone when they go . god, its just so good.

It is, for sure. Also, you are definatley not the Primer god. Clark sat around and talked to his friend and his brother for 5 hours straight talking about the movie.

part of the appeal was that they guys built it in their garage with stuff around the house and work... just like a uber cool senior project. i dont wanna give it away, and im not sure how id be able to hook you up with the 4.3gb set of dvd files ive got... maybe theres a torrent of it? try isohunt maybe.

well all i had was my family to talk to, and they were all too confused. and the last two times i watched it was from 1am - 4am, so no one was around to talk to.

ok i just watched it.. someone care to explain it to me? so they built a time machine that let's them go back in time, and with that, they try to capitalize on it and make money.. but.. after that.. i lost it.

both of them start taking trips back that the other doesnt know about. then, one of them brings back a box so that there are permenant doubles of themselves. the story follows them as doubles, so their other selves have already done stuff in the future that they dont know about, like the other dude who figures out about it all. that isnt explained to us, because they dont know how it happened either. basically, things get way out of control with doubles and altering events, and no matter how hard the dude tries (with the earpiece), he cant piece back together the day as it occured to solve the problem with the angry boyfriend.

OMG I am so happy that my leaving thread turned into a Primer thread

Primer is t3h best movie evar, and Bankie, you may understand A LOT of the movie, but you are gonna have to do an in-depth discussion with a couple people who know what the fuck is going on, going over theories and skipping through the movie with subtitles on until you get to my level of Primer knowledge

Anyway, I obviously haven't left yet (because I'm posting here). The ship sets sail sunday morning at 9:30, and until then I'll be dropping into the computer lab here at the California Maritime Academy library to get my internet fix.

what else is there to get? ive sorted out and fully appreciated the timing of it all, who is where when and what their doubles are doing to the point where i could explain the movie's sequence of events without it playing. granted that im a not an EE and although i know what the j-card things they started out working on were really, i dont know (and it doesnt seem to be explained) how they ended up with a time machine. i understand how the machine works, but not what lead them to it. when you are back up and running, we shall IM about it!
