Really, I like GT4 a lot. However I still see lots of room for improvement.

Obviously, first and foremost is SKIDMARKS! A game doesn't really deserve the badge "The real driving simulator" when it doesnt really simulate real driving. Which also leads me to the physics. It's an improvement over GT3 but seriously, there is still lots of room for improvement. The problem I see is that GT4 is a diehard racing game which expects you to stick to the rules of racing. Clean racing lines, braking and throttling, etc. But if you want to, oh lets so, try drifting or just screwing around in general it falls short.

Two games which I feel have better physics than GT4 is PGR2 on the Xbox and Live for Speed. At least in those two games I can whip the cars around and get a predictable slide where in GT4, the car just wants to understeeerrrr. Doesn't seem to matter which car it is, and thats with the driving assists turned off.

Speaking of sliding, its very excessive in GT4. Seems like no matter which car you drive, if you're doing over 40 going around a turn all you hear is tire squeel as you watch your tire meter go from a nice blue color to green and yellow then orange. The wire wear completely sucks. Almost as bad as the soundtrack!

Some of the songs on the soundtrack are good but most are complete shit. Seriously, what the hell is that song with that robot voice singing "I ddunnnttt knowww i dunnttt knoww".

And what point does the E-brake serve? Seems that when I press the button and turn my car just continues to go straight.

Whats the hype with the convertibles? So far the only races I've seen convertibles with the tops down were the license tests. Unless I'm driving a car which just doesnt have a top like the F1 car. Even the AC Cobra always has the top on while racing. I can honestly admit I havnt tried photo mode or anything yet a convertible yet but really if that and the license test are the only times you car has the tops down then what point of the whole "Wow fully animated drivers" feature?

Back to physics, i know the game doesnt have damage but I kinda would like to have the ability to send my car flipping down the track. Maybe have the race end if you manage to flip your car?

Just a few complaints I wanted to get off my chest.

Wow, so you do have problems with those rishi

I love taking things out of context

The tops go down when you are racing solo. It's too much work for the PS2 to have all tops down in a full race and render all the drivers.

Wow, I really wanna RACE SOLO head.gif head.gif head.gif
It's a feature they hyped that doesn't even get used. Kinda like how Driv3r was advertised to have a badass soundtrack yet you don't even hear any fucking music in the game

By playing it so much ofcouse I found lots of room for iprovement, but I still wasn't dissapointed.

Well thats debatable. I mean its been like what, 4-5 years since GT3 come out? Thats enough time to completely rewrite the physics engine from scratch. Instead, this game feels more like an uber tweaked version of GT3. GT3 compaired to 2 and 1 however felt like a completely different game.
Renesis
Yes, I know, but I got my PS2 with GT3 only a few months before it came out so I don't have this angry side about the long time/debatable results.

From what I see of it, it's a great game, which could still easily be made better

The physics engine is great in GT4,
PGR and NFS are fun but not very realistic and are not able to captivate me for long periods of time like GT4

But GT4 gives you a sense of real accomplishment(because we all know we need that cool.gif ) when you do a nice drift or something like that
DZ302
most of the engine sounds SUCK, the menu music sucks, the parts take too long to install, the mods are pretty fake (can't get turbos on all the cars, less cylinders = more nitrous, oil change gives hp, etc.), the tire wear is completely fake, but other than that i love it. but i mean come on, did they really have to make all the V8s sound like open exhaust V6s when you put racing exhaust on them? they sound like absolute crap.
DZ302
oh, and smoke still looks like ass
DZ302
and they have some gay cars in there, while omitting some good ones. for instance, no s class benz or is300 sedan, or any other caddies besides the cien, but they have shit like the mazda demio and mercury cougar. WTF?

EDIT: i've decided that this and the crappy engine sounds are what piss me off the most. i can't drive a trans am, but i can drive a POS 1983 civic. that makes a lot of sense head.gif

i think it gets boring after a while

I hate B-spec stupidity . When he's coming up on a guy , instead of overtaking , 50% of the time , he'll just ram into the guy's back , even if he has the whole track available .
dukenukem
The fact its not available on PC mad.gif

I agree, there could be many improvements like soundtrack, damage, maybe no invisible barriers to keep you in rally tracks (although i have to admit that the invisible barriers are what allowed me to easily beat most of the rallies).

and like Zonda said, it does have a tendancy to get old after a while, i suppose because when you're racing it's almost just like gt3 in the look, feel and sound.
