I'm not trying to pick on anyone's tastes, but why do you think the DeLorean is so great? I don't think that there's anything really special about it excapt for the stainless steel body that attracts finger prints and gullwing dors that fall on your head.

they like it probably just because it was in the back to the future movies.

the delorean was a funny car...the queen financed it because the factory was in northern ireland...and john delorean used the money to buy and sell coke!

it was a compromise from almost get go...it was susposed to have a big fast engine, but they could only convince Renault to give them a tired V6 making less BHP than one of todays hot hatches.

not really a cool car
Phix
1. Toyota MR2 (AW11 and SW20. Not the shit new ones.)

2. Mazda Miata (Flips and new one.)

I'm not particularly knowledgable about (or interested in) classic cars, so these are all new'uns. And personally I'm not a fan of $100,000+ supercars. They're too...well..."hoity-toity" as my gf would say.

My top five cars:
1) Subaru WRX
2) BMW 3-series
3) Acura RSX-S
4) Mini Cooper S
5) Honda Civic EX (not particularly exciting, but I own one and it's never let me down).

Think I like compact cars? wink.gif

Well to its credit Mr. Delorean put a lot of passion into his design. He was a big tall guy and the Delorean was a little car but he made sure that it could comfortably fit a big brute like him.

The car had potential but the finished product was just too bad sad.gif
Mellender17
Oh yeah, RUF RGT/Yellow bird is my no.6! wink.gif

The DeLorean is very distinct and I have yet to see another car that even attempts to mimic it's design, structure, and stature. Yeah it's heavy as hell, slow, it's history is terrible, and the whole stainless steel thing was probably a bad idea (three gold ones where made as well), but it's a car that has an air about it. It pretty much defines the 80s and when you ask someone to recall a car from the early 80s, the DeLorean is one that usually comes to mind.

In other news, I swear that Phix is my long lost blood brother.

Makes sense. So you like what it represents, not the engineering?

I think it's "semi-well" engineered... I love the body, the lines, and just everything about it, possibly even it's flaws. The 80s and early 90s was the best time for cars, I believe so I'm sure some of it's what it stands for as well.

Huzzah! BTTF started my love for DeLoreans and...

http://www.delorean.com

They sell refurbished DeLoreans. Basically, you get a DeLorean which was meant to be a DeLorean. An upgrade 197bhp engine, various stereo options from cD players and what not, a new speedometer that goes beyond that certain speed.... what was it? 85mph limit? An upgraded suspension which sits lower and really helps the look of the car and various other tidbits. If I had the money I'd definietely order one.

Do they fix the faulty doors too? dry.gif

Actually, yes. I think I read somewhere that if you bring in your DeLorean they'll fix that problem for free. Or 20 bucks. I forgot.
