What's the best beef/turkey jerky? I like to eat the stuff, but lately, I've been having some bad luck. I don't like the stuff so hard that it hurts my mouth to eat it, and that's the stuff I've been getting lately. I want stuff that's a little bit more tender.

So tell me, what are the good brands for this? I don't really care about the flavor, because I'll eat pretty much anything.

Thank you in advance.

Pemican if you can find it. It's my favorite but Wal-Mart only had it for a month or so.

the BEST i've ever had, was on the way to Mammoth, there's all these little stores that sell just Beef Jerkey.. i think they're homemade.. but DAMN were they good. I'm going on another Mammoth trip on New Years, would you like me to buy you some and send it your way? it costs about $20 for a decent amount.

Zealionople in pennsylvania has the best beef jerky I have ever tasted. Its a little crumbly, deliciously spiced, and is never too tough.

Truck stops always have the best Jerky. Look for the crappiest kind you can find, something that looks like it was made and packaged in someone garage, they are always the best.

And never buy any of that Oberita(sp?) stuff, it sucks bad.

there is a meat store about 15 miles away from me that sells some really good stuff, its their own custom thing so i doubt you'll find any of it unless you come to black diamond, washington

Oberto is the most tender, as I've found. I like Pemmican the most; it's not as juicy and tender as Oberto but I think Oberto is too strong on the flavor.

Hrm... all good suggestions. Thank you to everyone who responded. It seems like the best idea it to try to find small producer's stuff. So at the end of this month, when I'm driving from San Jose to Las Vegas, I'll just have to stop everywhere along the way and sample their jerky biggrin.gif

Thanks
