Lexus RC 2014 Review

Lexus unveiled the 2014 Lexus RC with striking new red paint at the 2014 North American International Auto Show.

The Lexus RC has returned with a more striking red exterior paint job than the all-new RC seen at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show in November. The luminous red paint is achieved through a meticulous paint process using four base coats of paint which are then baked twice. The dynamic red exterior paint color is made brighter and with more contrast thanks to an entirely new painting process, using a two-color base of both silver and red.

Triangular headlamps capture the sporty characteristics of the earlier LF-LC concept, along with the novel three-lamp LED configuration. Both front and rear lighting units use the Lexus L design motif. Sporty 18- and 19-inch alloys wheels fill out the fenders nicely and set a good stance.

The interior of the RC has extensive use of contrasting colors, materials and lighting. The seats are made using an integrated foaming construction. The high-contrast interior colors emphasize the elegant lines around the interior, together with shimamoku highlights.

Two versions will be available: the RC 350, with a 3.5-litre V6 engine producing 314bhp (234kW) and a peak torque of 380Nm, teamed with an eight-speed sequential transmission; and the RC 300h hybrid, with a 2.5-litre petrol unit.

The shiny and bright RC coupe is set to launch in 2014.
